Q. How much deposit is required when I make my reservation?
A. We require the last two nights of your stay at the time of your reservation. You may send a check within a week of booking your reservation or pay by Visa or MasterCard.
Q. Do I need to bring firewood?
A. No, we supply the firewood. There are bins strategically placed outside the cabins and you may just help yourself.
Q. Do you have grills?
A. Yes, there are charcoal grills outside each cabin.
Q. Do I need to bring linens and towels?
A. No, we supply all the linens and towels for the cabins.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. The cabins are supplied with just about everything you will need. You just need to bring your clothes and any food you are going to prepare. If your cabin is missing a supply, please stop by the office to see if we have it available in our inventory. Please note: we supply paper towels and toilet paper, but you will need to bring napkins and other paper products such as plates and cups. Small Bars of soap are provided, but we do not supply shampoo and other hygiene products.
Q. What is the cancellation policy?
A. If you cancel your reservation 30 days or more before your stay, we will issue a full credit immediately. If you cancel less than 30 days before, we will try and rent your cabin for the entire time you reserved. If we can re-rent, we will return your deposit.
Q. What are the fish biting on?
A. Please contact us just before your stay to check and see what bait seems to be working most effectively. We sell both Power Bait and worms. (See fishing report page for latest info)?
Q. Do you rent fishing poles?
A. Yes, we rent poles for $5.00 per day.
Q. Do I need a fishing license?
A. No, since our lake if private, you do not need to have a fishing license.
Q. How often do you stock the lake?
A. We stock the lake approximately 5 times per year. Each time we stock about 2,000 - 3,000 rainbow trout. The normal stocking schedule is February, March, September, October, and November.
Q. Can I swim in the lake?
A. No, we do not allow swimming in our lake due to liability issues.
Q. Do I need to reserve a boat in advance?
A. Generally there are plenty of boats to go around.
Q. Can I use a motor in the lake?
A. If you have a small electric motor, you may use it on the lake. We do not allow gas-powered motors of any size.
Q. What is check-in and check-out time?
A. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. unless you are in the Lakewood, Chalet, Pines, Oaks or cabin 24, which has a 10:00 a.m. check-out time due to the size of the cabins. Our housekeeping staff must have enough time to clean these accommodations for the next guests.
Q. Are there grocery stores nearby?
A. There is a Super Wal-Mart about three miles before Lake of the Woods (if you are coming through Show Low) and there is a Safeway store about two miles past our resort.
Q. Are there restaurants nearby?
A. There are numerous restaurants close to the resort. There is a list of restaurants (by specialty) with phone numbers and addresses in your cabin. There are several menu books available in the front office. Please stop by and borrow one is you would like to review the restaurants before making your decision.
Q. How far is Lake of the Woods from the Ski Mountain?
A. We are located about 30-35 minutes from Sunrise Ski Resort.
Q. Can I use an ATV or dirt bikes on property?
A. No, we do not allow ATVs to be ridden on our property. There is information in the front office about nearby areas that allow off-roading.
Q. Will my cell phone work at Lake of the Woods?
A. Not all cell phone services work in our area. Please be aware that regardless of whether or not your service works, in case of emergency you can dial 911 to get help and your cell phone will work. None of our cabins are equipped with phones but we do have a pay phone in the front of our office building. The phone is available 24 hours a day.
Q. What is the altitude?
A. The altitude is approximately 6,500 feet.
Q. Do your cabins have air conditioning?
A. No, none of the cabins is air conditioned with the exception of the Cedars. We have installed an air conditioner in it in an effort to reduce the road noise due to its proximity to Route 260.
Q. Do you allow pets?
A. Pets are welcome at Lake of the Woods.
Q. Is there a pet deposit?
A. We do not require a deposit although we do ask you to sign our pet policy at check-in. For more information, please see our policy page
Q. Do you have laundry facilities?
A. We do have a coin-operated washer and dryer available for use after 4:30 p.m.
Q. Are fire pits allowed?
A. No, there are no open fires allowed outside the cabins with the exception of the charcoal grills. If we have fire restrictions at any time, we will not allow even charcoal grills. We do have some gas grills available if you wish to cook outside. Please check with the office.
Q. Where can I find area information?
A. We try to keep an updated supply of information in the front office. You may also contact the Forest Service (located about ½ block from the resort) or the Chamber of Commerce (located about 2 miles east of Lake of the Woods).
Q. Do you allow RV’s to be parked on your property?
A. We do not allow RV’s to be parked on our property. We have limited parking spaces and need to be able to accommodate all our guests. There is an RV park directly across the street from the resort.
